Job Title: Director of Research and Learning (PhD)
About Dae: Dae is an AI-powered coaching app for life performance, motivation, and personal growth. We build tools that help people think more clearly, take better actions, and stick with meaningful change, grounded in evidence-based psychology and great product design.
We are a small, fast-moving team that is remote, with teammates in the Bay Area and New York. This role helps define what our AI coach says and does, and helps communicate that clearly to users and the public.
What you’ll do:
• Build and maintain our coaching protocol, including principles, frameworks, and conversational guardrails for the AI coach
• Translate psychology and behavioral science into product guidance, content, and user experiences
• Partner with engineering to turn frameworks into features (conversation flows, interventions, evaluations)
• Own our educational content direction, including in-app lessons and “teachable moments”
• Create short-form, public-facing content that makes psychology practical and engaging, in collaboration with our Head of Advertising
• Partner with compliance to ensure clear boundaries, safety, and responsible messaging
What we’re looking for:
• PhD (or equivalent research depth) in Psychology, Behavioral Science, or a closely related field
• Strong communication skills and a talent for making complex ideas clear and compelling
• Sound judgment, high ownership, and comfort working in a fast-paced startup environment
• Comfortable on camera (existing social presence is a plus, not required)
Compensation: $120k–$170k salary, meaningful early-stage equity based on experience and scope, plus benefits.
