Privacy Policy

1. Scope
This Privacy Policy covers how Dae (“we,” “us,” “the app”) collects, uses, and discloses personal information (also called “personal data” in some regions) when you use our iOS app.
2. Information We Collect
We collect personal information from you, from Apple when you sign in, and automatically from your device and app use, including:
- Account & eligibility: Apple login identifier and email, date of birth, name (if provided), time zone, reminder settings
- Analytics: user properties, app events, device identifier generated by the analytics SDK
- App updates: platform, build/runtime information, install identifier
- Notifications: device push notification token, app-specific identifier used to associate notifications with your account
- Profile info you provide: onboarding/profile information you choose to enter
- Technical logs: IP address, user agent, crash logs, error logs
- User Content: check-ins (e.g., mood, energy, stress), journal entries, optional context
3. How We Use Information
We use personal information to:
- operate the app (including AI responses);
- create/manage accounts;
- verify eligibility;
- deliver reminders you set;
- maintain security;
- measure and improve reliability; and
- comply with law.
4. Who We Share Information With
We share personal information only as needed to operate the app and comply with law, including with the following service providers:
- Amazon Web Services (hosting, storage, backend infrastructure)
- Amplitude (analytics/product usage measurement)
- Expo (app updates)
- OneSignal (push notification delivery)
- OpenAI (AI processing)
- Sentry (error monitoring)
- turbopuffer (vector storage/search supporting app functionality)
We may disclose personal information to government or law enforcement when required by valid legal process.
Any third party with whom we share user data provides the same or equal protection of user data as stated in this Privacy Policy.
5. AI Processing
We use OpenAI’s API to process User Content and profile information you provide to generate responses and insights.
OpenAI states that abuse monitoring logs may contain prompts and responses and are retained for up to 30 days, unless legally required to retain them longer. For more information about OpenAI’s API data handling, see OpenAI’s “Your Data” documentation here.
6. Managing Your Information
a. Request access
Email support@dae.one to request access or a copy of your personal information.
b. Correct your information
If any of the personal information we collect and hold about you is incorrect, you can update it in your profile.
c. Delete your account
You may delete your account in the app via: Profile → Delete Account.
When you delete your account, we delete your account data and User Content from our active systems. Encrypted backups are overwritten within 30 days, subject to limited retention where necessary for legal, accounting, security, or anti-fraud purposes.
d. Push notification
You can disable notifications in device settings.
7. “Do Not Track” and Third-Party Collection
The app does not respond to web browser “Do Not Track” signals.
Our service providers may collect device and usage information when you use the app to provide analytics, push notifications, error monitoring, and vector storage/search services.
Other parties may collect personally identifiable information about an individual consumer’s online activities over time and across different websites when a consumer uses the app.
8. Processing in the United States
We process personal information in the United States, including through service providers.
If you are located in Canada, your personal information may be processed in the United States and may be accessible to U.S. authorities under U.S. law.
9. Changes
If we make material changes, we will post the updated Privacy Policy and update the Effective Date.
